This was both a spur-of-the-moment site, and something that was a long time coming.

I had been thinking about making a site for Gyarados for some time, but I couldn’t figure out how to frame it. I knew I wanted something different from my other Pokémon sites, as I wasn’t satisfied with their structure, so this site kept sitting on the backburner, unmade. Out of the blue one day in March 2016, I had the idea to write this site as something of a trainer log, a rough history of my time with Gyarados. From there, the rest came together quickly.

The end result of this site turned out to be as much about me as it is about Gyarados, and yet I couldn’t have written this site about any other Pokémon. There is no other Pokémon I’ve trained as much as I have Gyarados. Sometimes I planned it, sometimes I didn’t, but I simply kept ending up with one. Even in the games where you can catch Gyarados, I ended up getting a Magikarp. (And usually not just one, either. When going through my old games, I found box after box of Magikarp as I looked for the right natures.)

I couldn’t have named this site anything else, either. I had originally planned to call it Atrocity, as Gyarados is classified as the Atrocious Pokémon, but when I realized how I was going to frame the site the name became obvious. This site was opened shortly after the Pokémon series hit its 20th anniversary, so the name is an homage to that as well.

If you have any questions or comments about this site, please feel free to leave a message in the guestbook. Thanks so much for reading through this site.

This site also hosts a fanlisting for Gyarados, adopted from Chibi. Thank you!

In November 2016, this site was honored with a recommendation from The Amazing. Thank you! You can click the banner above to read it.

Special thanks to DannyMyBrother for allowing me to use his Gyarados art for this site; I came across it on deviantArt and immediately knew how I wanted the design to look. I’m very thankful to the artist for granting permission to let me use his art!

Thanks also to Mikari for helping me with the CSS for the animation on the index.

Patterns used in the layout are from subtlepatterns.

Information on Gyarados was referenced primarily from veekun and Bulbapedia. Sprites and images were taken from those two sources, along with Pokécheck and PkParíso. Pokémon Amie gif from shinycaterpie.
